This is a camera I use in school and I think it fits in the category of technology because on the inside of a camera there are just so many parts that all play a role in capturing an image. And technology in my mind means  many little things put together to make something large.

  1. As compositions go this image is bit stagnant. However in your description of why you took this image to represent technology i think you hit upon something that if photographed differently, could really push it to something great. You said "there are just so many parts that all play a role in capturing the image. And technology...means many little things put together to make something large." What if you had photographed all the little parts laid out, like a camera deconstructed to show us all the seemingly unimportant parts that come together to make the whole? You're right, cameras, especially todays advanced digital cameras have so many pieces that result in the end product we take for granted. Or what if you had opened it up and photographed some of the interior close up? Or photographed all the components to making an image such as the camera body, a lens, a roll of film, a developing tank, a memory card, a laptop, the cords you need, the batteries/battery pack, etc...? A picture of a camera is just a picture of a camera, but a picture of all the parts would make us stop and think about how our technology is put together. I think youre on to something with what you said to describe technology, that is a great jumping off point for another image about technology.

  2. I think what carolyn said above is a good idea. Taking a new approach to something tried and tested is always fun and a great way to try new things. I personally wouldn't deconstruct my own camera, i don't think i could put it back together, but i would try and find a way to further expand this idea of technology.

  3. Just a correction since Matt brought up a good point: I didnt mean to have you deconstruct your own camera, I meant if you had an old one to take apart, and just generally I was offering that as a solution to the problem.

  4. Yea I wouldn't disfigure my own camera, mainly because I wouldn't be able to put it back together. My friend just bought a nikon slr for 5 dollars at a thrift store, so I might see i might use that, with his permission of course ;).
